Veterinary Technician Students
BLVD Vet is seeking to support the next generation of veterinary technicians at our truly independent group of AAHA Accredited small animal practices in Chicago! As such, we love to support students who are enrolled in accredited veterinary technician programs by inviting them to complete their externships with us and our incredible team! Under supervision, students will learn to practice the problem-solving, technical and communication skills that they have acquired during their coursework and technical education.
Externs can expect to witness a typical caseload of a small animal practice; there will be a well balanced split of wellness and sick visits as well as days on procedures (primarily dental and soft tissue.) Under the supervision of a senior BLVD technician they will gather histories, practice accurate recording in medical notes, perform treatments, TPRs, and develop their professional voice for clients, refine technical skills, and establish rapport with their teammates.
We expect all students to adhere to safety protocols as outlined by the AVMA, OSHA and the CDC in order to protect themselves, those around them, and our patients.
