Parasite Prevention

We work to prevent and treat both endoparasites and ectoparasites and are always looking to find the most convenient and effective options available. Currently, we recommend ProHeart for dogs over 6 months of age to protect against heartworm for up to 12 months with a single injection! That means never forgetting to give your pet their heartworm medication again. If you prefer the ritual of a treat, we now also offer Simparica Trio, a chew that protects against heartworm, fleas and ticks. If your dog is on ProHeart, we also recommend Bravecto chews as their flea and tick preventative as it lasts 3 months. For cats, we offer Revolution Plus, which protects against fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms with just a quick topical application on the back of their neck.

We provide annual and diagnostic Heartworm and Fecal Parasite checks. In the event that your pet tests positive for their fecal test, we perform a recheck once your pet’s medications are finished to ensure they shed the parasite and are healthy. Additionally, we send puppies and kittens home with a dewormer if they haven’t yet had one. We provide designated informational handouts that we go over with each owner so they can be sure to set their pet up for success. For pets that have been infected with heartworms, we provide treatment plans recommended by the American Heartworm Association to get them heartworm free as safely as possible.
