Bio
Dr. Boisture comes from a small town, an island in the Detroit River, called Grosse Ile, MI. Here is where she fell in love with the close-knit community and wildlife, resulting in her dream to build relationships with both people and animals as a veterinarian. Her first veterinary experience transitioned from riding her bike daily to visit the animals at the island animal shelter to working directly with the animal control officer on intake exams and responding to community calls. In high school, she worked her way up from a lodging attendant to a veterinary assistant at a local animal hospital.
She attended the University of Michigan β Ann Arbor for undergrad where she studied Evolutionary Anthropology. Due to not having a pre-veterinary program, she instead spent her time volunteering with the community of Detroit to provide weekly workshops and mentorship for high school students to prepare them for college and the workforce while her summers were spent working as a veterinary assistant or as the island wide dog sitter. She then attended U of Mβs rival, Michigan State University, where she obtained her DVM. Dr. Boisture says deciding who to root for on game days still remains impossible!
