Dr. Erin Newman

River North

Medical Director

Bio

Dr. Erin Newman is originally from Roselle Illinois but spent her high school years in Chicago and made her way back after graduating from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. She has loved animals as long as she can remember; her mom notes she begged to go to the zoo every day when she was in kindergarten. Brookfield Zoo has always been one of her favorite places, so it’s no surprise that this was her favorite clinical rotation in vet school.

When deciding on her career, she knew she would be happy as long as she was working with animals. At University of Wisconsin-Madison for her undergraduate degree, she decided that veterinary medicine would be the best way for her to help them. Fun fact--during vet school she did conservation research on Blanding’s turtles and learned to handle venomous snakes while working in the Wildlife Epidemiology Lab!

Dr. Newman’s favorite thing about practicing is making a difference in the lives of her patients and watching them improve under her care. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, playing ultimate frisbee and spending time with her beagle, Gatsby. Most of all, she loves indoor gardening. She is very attached to her houseplants and takes it very personally whenever she finds a brown leaf!
